A Long Last-Longer

One of the most entertaining side bets during the $350 HPT Series Kickoff Event has been the $100 Last-longer between Cary Marshall (above) and Lance Donnell (below). The sidebet started Saturday but only lasted three hands because Cary, for some unknown reason, thought he could run a bluff on Toan Nguyen for his entire stack.

Well, that didn't work so the last-longer was repeated - Lance is freerolling now - and that $100 was tossed back and forth throughout play yesterday as one, then the other, because shortstacked but would eventually survive.

Lance has been as low as 3BB here in Day 2, but has found his rhythm of late and moved to close to 400,000. Cary, meanwhile, managed a few knockouts and has jumped in to the chiplead 8-handed with about 825,000.

There was one point today where the $100 was found crumpled up on the floor (under the foot of one unmentioned tournament reporter) when Cary tossed it at Lance after Lance managed a 5BB double through Cary.

My opinion is - if these two end up heads-up for the title - that $100 should go in the staff tipjar ...
