Aaron Schoch defeats Alan Mastic 2 games to 1 to become the first person to advance to the Championship Match in the $550 Heads Up Event 16.
Schoch, almost exclusively an online poker player who came the the Peppermill because of what he learned about the tournament series from Jason Somerville's Run It UP YouTube shows -- has run very well in the series.
"It was a really hard match, I won the first in about 15 minutes, he won the second pretty fast," said Schoch.
Michael Cooper is Schoch's opponent in the Heads Up Championship Match, and what a way to get there. Cooper's match ended right as we were writing this up.
Cooper and Ubaid Habib get it all in on a 622K board, with Cooper holding K6 for top two pair .. while Habib's K2 was 2's full. The river .... was a 6 for a bigger boat.
Cooper was 2nd to Run It UP's Martin Kampmann in the Poker NV Spring Challenge $1,100 Main Event.
The Championship Match starts in 15 minutes.
Mastic and Habib, if they so choose, can play a consolation match for 3rd and 4th place, or chop the $5k-plus in prize money.
